CHAMELEON’s IN MINISTRY

The definition of a chameleon is a person who often changes his or her beliefs or behavior in order to please others or to succeed. Being involved in “ministry” or even social or political circles, I see where there is such a push to indulge ideologies just to be accepted in certain circles, to compromise and tolerate mindsets that just don’t align with our own personal or moral beliefs.

We do this to “keep the peace” or out of a fear of confrontation.  I do know that not a lot of people like confrontation, so out of fear of man, we “go along to get along”.  We do this so that we can stay a part of the group, to fit in.  When we try to fit in we look at or assess a certain situation and just turn into whatever we need to turn in to so that we are accepted.  However, belonging never requires us to change but to just be, to be who God created us to be.

As humans, we have a need to connect and to be in relationship with each other, to feel like we belong.  The need for connection to not be alone is something that God saw in the beginning in Genesis, as He said it is not good for man to be alone.

So in our search for fitting in versus belonging, sometimes we tolerate the wrong things…just to be accepted.  We do this so that we are not shunned or excluded from our communities.

People in political office are notorious for being chameleon’s just so they can “get the vote”.  They will say or promise things that are not true to just fit in to the group they want votes from. They have a personal political agenda to achieve at risk of either harming others, or compromising their own moral beliefs just so they don’t lose their coveted spot or title in politics.

People in ministry do the same thing.  I have recently seen really amazing, powerful and anointed men and women of God who started off with a humble heart, with a small handful of people, simply doing what the Lord had asked them to do, loving people, preaching the true unadulterated Word of God.  Once they obtain a little fame, fortune or followers, it starts to morph into something that looks completely different and they even align themselves with people that have compromised the Truth.  I don’t pretend to know the heart of a man however, I am continually seeking after the heart of God and do this by prayerfully searching the scriptures.  If the Word of God tells me that a particular action, or mindset is evil or an abomination, I will forever stand on the Word of God and not turn into a ministry chameleon.  I will not compromise His truth for my own personal agenda or ambition to become great in the eyes of man.  I want to be great in the eyes of GOD!

He promises that if I LOVE HIM, I will keep His commandments. We are made in HIS image, and HE is the only thing that I seek to become like or morph into…more Christ-likeness!  True “healthy” love requires boundaries, and those boundaries come with accountability.  I am accountable first to the Father.  In the end of my life there will be no other person that I will stand before.  I want to look HIM face-to-face and have him say, “Well done my good and faithful servant”.

Matthew 25: 21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

My goal is to be more LIKE HIM!  I want to walk in His steps, to love like Him, to work like Him, to give like Him, to stay humble like Him, to be compassionate like Him, to be dedicated in prayer like Him, to be led by the Holy Spirit like Him, and to do what my Father in Heaven tells me to do…LIKE HIM!

JESUS CHRIST is the only thing I need to MORPH INTO!

Stop being a chameleon of man, and be recreated in HIS DNA!

JESUS CHRIST…HE is my example.

JESUS CHRIST…and ONLY HIM!
